Match Report
Dean Close Preparatory School Girls 1st VII vs  In2hockey National Finals
On: Friday, 17 May 2019
Venue: Away

The first DCPS girls' team ever to get to a National Final. That's some achievement! The fact that the girls did it with a game to spare, is even more incredible. We won all our pool games: Kingston Grammar 1-0, St Olaves 1-0, King's College 6-2 and Oakham 2-1. In the final we met Weald of Kent, a grammar school from Tonbridge, who had one amazing player - the best I have ever seen at this age. It wasn't a vintage game - they played little hockey but relied on her dribbling every time she got the ball, while we spent so much time trying to tackle her that we were then unable to create much! They scored a scrappy goal from a goal mouth scramble, and then in the second half we unfortunately deflected a strike from a corner into the goal to give them their second. Runners up is a tough spot to finish - but we have done so with our heads up, having played great hockey and being the most successful DCPS girls' team ever!
