Match Report
Dean Close Preparatory School 1st VII vs  IAPS regionals
On: Thursday, 10 Oct 2019
Venue: Away

Another fantastic day in the life of Dean Close hockey! We started the day with a 4-0 win over Fettes and although played well, looked a little nervous. We went on to win the next 3 of our group matches but had a couple of fairly poor games where we scrapped out an untidy win. We beat Bromsgrove 3-0, Sedbergh 2-0 and Wellingborough 1-0 - that performance being the low-light of the day! However, at this point we had already won the group with a game to spare. The girls really clicked into gear in the last group game and beat Stonyhurst 6-0 (which included 4 goals from Nuala). In the quarter-final we met Moor Park and it was in this game that Caitlin, fairly subdued during the group matches, showed us exactly what she can do. Everyone played superbly well to get a 5-0 win. In the semi-final, we once again met Fettes as although they had finished 3rd in our group, they beat the 2nd placed team in the other group. A re-run of the opening match of the day finished with the same scoreline, a 4-0 win for us. This meant qualification for the Nationals and the day's mission achieved. However, it is typical of these girls that they weren't content at that, and went on to beat Foremarke Hall in the final 2-0. Well done, girls - awesome day at work!
